The academic foundation in this room supports children to achieve a strong basis for reading, writing and number sense. Students learn letter sounds and shapes, are introduced to word decoding and sight words. Pre-writing and pre-reading activities are presented in many ways to meet a variety of learning styles and reading abilities. Number sense and place-value is introduced along with addition, subtraction, patterns, geometry and abstract reasoning.
